Truman Capote was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, on September 30th 1924. He was an American novelist, short story writer and playwright. His debut novel was “Other Voices, Other Rooms”, his novella “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” was adapted into one of the most popular films of all time, and his book “In Cold Blood” was a beginning form of narrative non-fiction. He died in 1984 in Los Angles, California. Truman’s parents, Archulus Persons and Lillie Mae Faulk, were divorced when he was only four years old. He lived with relatives in Monroeville, Alabama, while his mother and her second husband, Cuban businessman Joseph Capote, lived in New York. His closest friends at this time were an elderly cousin, Miss Sook Faulk, and his neighbor, Harper Lee. She later became an award-winning author herself, writing To Kill a Mockingbird. Both friends appear as characters in Capote’s early fiction.
